SGF browser

Browsing game trees

One of GoBase's results of a search are variation trees. The only proper way to investigate the variation trees is by using an SGF browser: a program which is able to display Go game records in SGF format on the screen and which allows you to navigate through the game and variations. For each type of computer system there are public domain (or shareware) SGF browsers available. If you happen to run X windows on a UNIX system the most suitable browser would be cgoban.

Note The cgoban program is not exactly what we have in mind for displaying variation trees of a search but it comes very close.
Executables of cgoban are available for various systems: Linux-486, SGI IRIX-5.2, and Sun Solaris 2.4.
